If you are trying to sell something, the new homepage should promote the product in ways that people will feel the need to click on any links that you have to actually buy the product or to get more information. Whenever we think about advertising, we think about the hook that is used to draw all readers in and to make them excited about what we have to offer. The overview of your product should be just that. Too much detail here and people will feel that they have all of the information that they need and may not go any further.
